The breath is the bridge between the body and the mind. If you notice you've been thinking too much chances are you may not be breathing...
Did you feed yourself today?
I'm talking about breath! it's our first food, but not our only food, of course...
96.2% of our body mass is gas. Gas is electricity. Breath is electricity. We breathe in and out oxygen and carbon dioxide.
Body mass breakdown of 96.2%:

Only 3.9% of our body mass is comprised by the food we eat (minerals, vitamins, fiber).
Most of our food is made up of gas too...proteins (amino acids) are composed of carbon, oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen. Essential Fatty Acids are composed of oxygen, carbon, hydrogen. Sugar(glucose) is composed of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen.

The yogi's knew this very well, so they did breathing techniques called pranayama. According to the Yoga Sutras of Pantanjali, pranayama regulates breath thus balancing the mind, promoting concentration and awareness. This a handy-dandy tool to control the body's energy and quiet the mind!

Now I'm sure you are starting to see that when we aren't breathing we can't concentrate or be aware of anything because we are caught in the cycle of thoughts. That's body's way of telling you, "Hey, I need some fresh electricity within me."
With this gained awareness you can breathe knowing it promotes balance, concentration and awareness so you unlock the beautiful potentials of the universal energies within your body.
Your body is your best friend ever! Everyday it's working to keep you alive and healthy. Taking time to consciously breathe each day is a simple act of love, honor, and gratitude to your body.
